Is All Cardio Equipment the Same?

Hit Your Stride at Freedom Fitness

Cardio training is a heart-pumping, calorie-burning, mood-boosting addition to any routine. Also called aerobics, it’s exercise that ignites your cardiovascular system to blast fat, drop weight, and improve overall health and wellness.

Almost any activity that increases your heart rate can be considered aerobic exercise! Walking, swimming, cycling – even daily household tasks like mowing and vacuuming; in fact, anything that keeps you moving, active, and less sedentary is a plus.

The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise, or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week, for optimal health and wellness. Whether you decide to exercise at home or join our Corpus Christi gyms, daily aerobic activity helps keep your body functioning at its best.

With all the choices of cardio equipment, where do you start? Here are a few examples of the top-of-the-line equipment you’ll find at Freedom Fitness.

Treadmills

With a walking surface that’s easier to navigate than a sidewalk or street, treadmills are standard and straightforward, and you can adjust speed and incline according to your fitness level and goals.

As your cardiovascular system pumps blood and oxygen throughout your body, you’ll improve your health and decrease the risk of heart disease. Not only are treadmills a great tool for burning calories and toning leg muscles, but proper posture also helps strengthen the core too.

Ellipticals

Ellipticals are upright machines equipped with movable handles or poles that allow you to exercise both your arms and legs.

Elliptical machines are lower impact than treadmills (which means a workout that’s easier on your joints), and they also provide upper body exercise as well.

Bikes

What’s more fun than a spin on a bike?

At Freedom Fitness, our fleet of stationary bikes can take you for a leisurely ride or a full-out sprint! Cycling is a lower impact way to rev your heart rate, far easier on the joints that walking or jogging – but with just as many cardio health benefits.

Stair Steppers

Stair climbers aren’t flashy, but these machines provide great cardio workouts that benefit all the major muscle groups. You can strengthen your legs, tone your backside, and increase your core strength and stamina.

Try one or try them all – find the cardio workout you think you’ll enjoy most – and stick with it!
